Let me start by saying I do not like diets. I know diet’s do not work unless there is a long term plan to maintain any progress that you make. I do like tools. I look for tools that help me in my fitness journey. I research tools that make maintaining health and fitness in a busy lifestyle, doable and affordable. I rarely try something new unless I have put in adequate research and I know it is something that could work. I do not like the idea of purchasing a program… mostly because when I think of a program, I think of a diet, and like I said, for me, diets do not work.

The 21 Day Fix was the first “Program” that I have ever purchased. I made the decision to purchase this program after a lot of research and finding that this “Program” would give me tools to maintain fitness and reach goals. It is flexible, and after the initial research and learning, it is easy.

What is it? 

The 21 day fix is a work out and eating plan wrapped up in one. It contains 30 minute workout DVD’s and an eating plan. The eating plan is designed to be easy and help you to have a balanced diet. It gives you lists of foods and recipes that you can use in the plan. The containers cut out the calorie counting and guessing on portions sizes. If it fits in the container… go for it! Don’t worry, you are allowed coffee and tea – just stay away from the added creamers and such!

What’s included?

Workout DVD’s – There are 7 different work outs (one for each day of the week to rotate through) there are strength days, Cardio days, one day of Pilates, and one day of Yoga. They are 30 minute workouts and can be adjusted to any ability level. I love the fact that they are short and become apart of your daily routine. You will need hand weights or a resistance band and an optional yoga mat for floor moves. They are short enough to do in the morning before work! The work outs come with a schedule so you know what to do each day of the week.

The Eating Plan – This gives you recipes and lists of foods for each different container. It is simple and tells you exactly what you can eat. It also helps you figure out how much of each container you should have depending on your goals to lose weight or maintain your weight by having a balanced diet.

Colored containers – The fix comes with colored containers. There is a green container for veggies, purple for fruit, red for protein, yellow for carbs, blue for nuts, cheese, avocado, hummus, etc and then orange for seeds or dressings. There is no counting you just fill up each container as full as it goes and you are ready to go!

3 Day Quick Fix – this is a guide to either a cleanse or if you need to lose weight fast. I tried this and it is so much food to eat but I lost like 4 pounds in three days and I feltgreat after! It is rather challenging to stick to but a great tool to use and only three days!

How does it work?

The 21 day fix gives you results by making a balanced diet simple. It takes the basic principles of healthy living and makes it doable! It also helps you to learn portion sizes and eliminates the guess work! The workouts are fun and exciting and keep you interested for the 30 minutes. They are doable for everyone and with the proper modification can provide great results for everyone!

Do I recommend the program?

Yes! I loved the work outs and I loved the eating plan. I lost weight (6 pounds the first round and I will keep you posted on round 2!). I have said this before but it is so important to me that I am not doing a “diet” and that I am learning lifestyle changes. Budget and easy is important to me in meal planning and I love that I can make my meal plan as complicated or simple as I need! I can do this with my husband and incorporate what I have learned in my every day life!
