Another week has come and gone! I feel like life is a whirlwind right now! I am happy to be busy right now with so many different things, but it sure does make it feel as though time is slipping through my fingers. This weekend I am looking forward to a variety of things from catching up with an old friend to watching some softball all capped off with time at work. I feel like this weekend will be over before I know it. Regardless, I have continued to make it a priority to pause and be thankful for various things throughout the week. It is funny that just three weeks of this post and I am beginning to notice myself being thankful for more things and noticing more positive things around me – all a welcomed breath of fresh air in my life. Here are a few things that I was thankful for this week.
Random Acts of Kindness
Last Saturday I was working at the golf course. Usually, I am more than happy to be outside working in such a relaxed environment. I always say, you can’t get a better job than that. However, this particular Saturday, I was not in my finest form. I was feeling ill, my iPad fell off my cart and I had to go on a desperate search for it, and I am pretty sure someone aimed to hit me with their golf ball. I was not having a good day. I went in to reload some product and when I came back out I found two pieces of Dove Chocolate on my cart. I can’t tell you how quickly my attitude turned around from that simple act of kindness. Whoever did this did not know the kind of day I was having or the impact that simple act would have, but they made my day and inspired me to start thinking in a way that blesses others rather than focuses on me. I was moved and incredibly thankful that someone would think to do something so kind. It doesn’t take a lot, even the simplest of gestures, when done out of love and servitude, can make the biggest difference.
After Katie’s pinning ceremony last Friday night, Aaron came home early from his trip picking up his sisters in California. We went over and spent some time at my parents’ house. Although short, it was a wonderful time to chat and catch up. We went out for breakfast the next morning with my parents before Aaron and I headed off to work. I truly enjoy the moments I get with my family, even if they are short. I am looking forward to spending some quality time with my mom and sister next week during my sister’s brief break from school.
So I realize that my idea of sleeping in these days does not compare to what earlier versions of myself would have considered sleeping in, but now that August is here, I am faced with the very real and harsh reality that daily 5 am alarms are in my near future. This week, I have truly been appreciating sleeping in to the time that Aaron wakes up for work and enjoying my morning cup of coffee. It really does amaze me how fast summers go, but I am so thankful for the time I have in the summer to enjoy my mornings a little bit more.
Thanks to my wonderful Sunday School leader, I was able to attend a Life Expression’s Take and Make Party this week. I absolutely loved the idea of this party. For $15, I was able to choose a saying and create a sign with colors that I chose that would go with my house colors. I painted and the consultant showed me how to transfer the saying onto my sign. I loved going to a party and having a real, tangible result to take home with me! It was a fun night to meet new people and connect. I was pretty happy with my results and new sign that I have hung in my favorite room of my house. And as an added bonus, part of the proceeds are going to a ministry! All ingredients to a successful evening in my opinion!
That’s all for this week! Hope you have a great weekend!
